Principal Kendra

Mrs. Tanikawa is out sick so I have been told that I could be principal for the day. I have many ideas or what I would do as a principal. These ideas I hope would have a good influence on me and maybe get to know people better as principal. Maybe I could even do so well I can be the Hewes principal full time.

My first idea that I’d do is I would make the day a work day to take off the stress off the students and teachers. I would also make the lunch time longer and start earlier. At lunch I would have the Fun Friday activities such as Jenga, Bubbles, and ping pong. I would also have dodgeball and the MPR open where you can eat lunch.
I would make the day for not just the students but for the teachers. I would have a period dedicated to lunch while the teachers are able to work on their assignments or eat their lunch. I would have the Wednesday bell schedule where school would start at nine and the classes are only twenty five minutes long. I would have a tutorial class, but if you have nothing to do you are free to leave school.

As principal, I would want a schedule that won’t be that stressful. I would make a calm but fun environment at the same time. Being a principal can come with a lot of responsibilities, but I feel like the main job would to keep the students happy. It would be fun to experience being a principal for a fun day, but the job would seem harder than you think.

Missing Jimmy

Being a mother is one of the loveliest things in life, but also the most annoying at times. You see, I have two baby little otters who I’d never trade for the world. But one of them in particular is a bit, questionable. My oldest, Christine is the most responsible little otter I know. She is practically like an angel. But on the other hand, my youngest. Jimmy, humorous, mischievous, you never know what he’s up to. Just like what happened the other day.

It was a normal morning in the Pacific Ocean, I was gonna go hunting to bring back food. “Christine, watch Jimmy while I’m gone. Make sure he doesn’t take one paw out of this house.” Christine nods her head, she’s always been pretty quiet. I left around searching the sea, but I come back empty handed. As I come back into my house I see Christine panicked. “Jimmy, he’s gone!” I have never heard her voice have so much emotion in a while. I knew what I had to do.

I went out for hours searching in the sea, not for hunting but for Jimmy. After hours losing hope, I saw Jimmy with his friends. “Jimmy!” I cried out as I swam so fast over to him. I’ve never swam that fast in my life. I pull up his neck and carry him home. Jimmy didn’t even bother to say anything. He knew no matter what he said, he was in a lot of trouble.

Rad Reading – November

On one space trip, Mark Watney was left behind after his crew mates evacuated in a dust storm. He finds himself stranded on mars with no signal to earth. While everyone on earth thinks he died, he has to wait for the next spaceship to come to mars. With his engineering experience and ridiculous humor, Mark Watney uses the supplies he has to complete his quest to stay alive. This is The Martian by Andy Weir. I am currently on page 189 and there are 369 pages, so I am around halfway in the book.

I recommend reading this book because all the characters have realistic and unique personalities, it was almost like the characters were real. I love how they made the main character Mark Watney’s personality. Even though Marks left on mars, he still makes jokes and is almost never serious. In conclusion, that is why I recommend the book.

My favorite character in the book is the main character, Mark Watney. Like I mentioned before, Mark has a funny and caring personality, he almost never takes anything seriously. NASA’s chief director and administrator during the time, Teddy Sanders was wondering what Mark was doing at the moment. This is what Mark was thinking at the moment, “How come Aquaman can control whales? Makes no sense!” This shows that Mark still jokes around and asks these ridiculous questions in whatever situation he would be in. Even if he was left on mars.

My favorite quote in the book is on page 55. Mindy Park, a worker at Satcom makes a discovery that Mark Watney may be alive on mars, using her experience on satellites. She found a picture of which she makes this statement to Venkat Kapoor, the director of NASA’s mars mission. The quote that explains this is, “‘Did I mention I never found Watney’s body?’ She said, sniffling. Venkat’s eyes widened as he stared at the picture. ‘Oh . . .,’ he said quietly. ‘Oh God . . . ‘ Mindy put her hands over her face and sobbed quietly.” This is my favorite quote because it shows one of the most important parts of the story. It starts the real conflict in the book of how to get Mark back on earth. In conclusion, this quote is piled with shock and emotion which is why it’s my favorite quote.
